The Australian cricket team has remained one of the most consistent sides in this year’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 as it has only lost one game throughout the group stage which is why it is said to be one of the favourites to lift the trophy on July 14th.
Two-time World Cup winning captain and batting coach of the current side, Ricky Ponting feels that Australia could add the 6th world title to its trophy cabinet as they have been playing some really good cricket despite the minor hiccups.
Ponting also emphasized on the importance of peaking at the right time in a major tournament like World Cup as a team could easily lose the plot with just one bad game as the margins for error keep on decreasing.
“We've beaten England already in the tournament. I think it's fair to say we've been the standout team of the tournament to date. A loss now although it's not ideal going into a semi-final, it's probably not the worst thing either. It could be a bit of a wake-up, a bit of a freshen up and a bit of a reset. It might just make us a better team. Australia's best game has to be in the semi-final, it's as simple as that,” he said.
