The ongoing ICC World Cup has been marred with political controversies and seen a lot of political slogans being flown over the stadium during a few matches. The recent incidents have prompted the ICC to take strict actions.
A similar incident happened during the semi-final match between India and New Zealand when a number of spectators were handcuffed and ejected from Old Trafford after mounting a political protest. The fans were apparently Sikh separatists who wore T-shirts and held banners demanding a referendum on an independent homeland to be carved out of India.
For the first semi-final, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) ensured that air space above Old Trafford was made a 'No Fly Zone' in the wake of the unsavoury occurrences at Headingley.
