Amidst the rising pressure on MS Dhoni to take retirement from international cricket, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has emerged as a strong supporter of the former World Cup winning skipper. The Nightingale of Bollywood has pleaded with the Indian cricketing great to consider continuing playing for the national side.
Following India’s shock defeat to New Zealand in the first semi-final of the World Cup, Lata Mangeshkar took to Twitter to support the team despite the dispiriting loss. She urged the wicketkeeper-batsman Dhoni to not take the impulsive decision of retirement.
Mangeshkar’s request to Dhoni comes in the face of extreme public backlash witnessed by the 38-year-old for not getting his team over the line. Dhoni scored 50 off 72 balls coming in to bat when India were at a precarious situation chasing 240 against the Black Caps, but he was eventually run-out in the final few moments of the game.
