Afghanistan’s 26-year-old pacer Aftab Alam has been banned from domestic and international cricket for one year after being found guilty of violating the disciplinary code of conduct during the World Cup. Alam’s alleged misconduct was thoroughly investigated by the Afghanistan Cricket Board’s Discipline Committee (ACB).
Alam was earlier withdrawn from the World Cup squad and sent home in disgrace under “exceptional circumstance”. While it was earlier not reported what exactly led to Alam’s dismissal from the team, it has now been revealed he seriously misbehaved with a female guest at the team hotel following the game between Afghanistan and India.
Alam managed to pick up just 4 wickets in 3 games across the tournament and his current contract with the ACB has also been revoked as a result of his disciplinary issues.
