The Indian cricket team was knocked out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 after a close defeat against New Zealand in the semifinal. The blue shirts were quite close to winning the game, but they eventually fell short due to some fantastic all-round cricket from the Black Caps.
Rishabh Pant, who was going along nicely after rescuing India from a horrific batting collapse, lost his wicket in the semifinal by playing an extravagant shot which was not needed at that moment.
Skipper Virat Kohli was quite furious on the carelessness of Pant as captured by the cameras, but he later backed the youngster to learn from his mistakes and do better for the team in the future.
“He's still young. I made many errors when I was young in my career and he will learn. He will look back and think yes, he could have chosen a different option in that situation and he realizes that already. I think the way he and Hardik played after the loss of three wickets, four wickets rather, was quite commendable. I am sure he will reflect on it and he will come out stronger,” said Kohli after the game.
