Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is nearing the end of his international career as he might have played his last game for India in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The wicket-keeper batsman is yet to address the media after the end of India’s campaign in the tournament.
Quite interestingly, there are a lot of similarities between the careers of Dhoni and former Pakistani batting legend Javed Miandad who represented his country for almost 20 years. Both the batsmen have played match-winning knocks in the final of a World Cup and that too in a winning cause.
Javed Miandad was run out on his ODI debut against the West Indies in 1976 as was Dhoni who fell victim to a brilliant fielding effort by the Bangladesh fielders in his very first international outing in 2004. Similarly, both the batsmen also lost their wickets via a run out in their last ODIs for their country.
Dhoni is said to be the best finisher in ODI history while Miandad was also regarded a great finisher in the 80s and 90s when cricket was played at a much slower pace.
