England have reached the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 after beating arch rivals Australia in a convincing fashion at Headingley on Thursday. The Aussies were outclassed in all departments as they were restricted to a total of just 223.
Wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey tried to stabilize things with Steve Smith after the loss of 3 wickets up front as they both put on a partnership of 103 runs and held the innings together after the initial blows.
Carey survived a nasty blow during the start of his innings as he started bleeding immediately after being hit by a bouncer from Jofra Archer. However, he continued batting after getting the bandages on his face as he wanted to help his side in the all-important game.
Carey eventually got out in the 28th over, falling prey to leg-spinner Adil Rashid. The stylish left-hander hit 4 boundaries during his innings, but his effort eventually went in vain as he England easily chased down the total in 33 overs at the loss of just 2 wickets.
