The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled figures for the TC and digital viewing populations for the World Cup group stage and semi-finals showing that new records have been set for cricket viewership in the sport’s showpiece event.
A whopping 2.6 billion views on videos have come across ICC’s digital and social media platforms for league phase games for the highlights of the matches and various other clips. Meanwhile, the semi-final between India and New Zealand has broken the world record for most number of views on Hotstar peaking at 25.3 million, surpassing the previous high of 18.6 million.
In the UK, the event has now reached a unique audience of 20 million people. The semi-final between England and Australia became the third most watched match for the event on Sky Sports after England vs India and India vs Pakistan, attracting 465,000 new audience members.
