Majestic Williamson breaks another WC record

The ever-calm Kane Williamson has been an inspirational leader for the New Zealand all throughout the World Cup. Scoring the bulk of runs for his team during the course of the tournament, Williamson was duly awarded the player of the World Cup prize for his batting exploits and robust captaincy skills.

Williamson’s stupendous form saw him score 578 runs in the tournament, which has created the record for most number of runs by a captain at a World Cup – overtaking Mahela Jayawardene’s earlier tally of 548 runs at the 2007 World Cup while leading Sri Lanka.

Williamson, however, had to face disappointment in an enthralling final against hosts England where the winner was decided via a boundary count despite a tie in the Super Over.
