Injury of Australian top-order batsman Shaun Marsh dented Glamorgan’s plans for T20 blast as the 36-year old was scheduled to ply his trade for Glamorgan. However, the management has prepared a back-up plan as they are aiming to sign Pakistan’s belligerent opening batsman Fakhar Zaman.
Marsh was ruled out of the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament after breaking his arm in nets. To cover his absence, the 29-year old Pakistani is likely to join the team for the upcoming T20 frenzy. Fakhar has played 89 T20 games in which he mustered over 2000 runs at 27.84. Moreover, his strike-rate of 138.64 makes him an ideal player for the shortest format of the game.
While the Mardan born wasn’t able to score big in World Cup, his prowess and match-winning abilities are known to all. Moreover, Shaun Marsh’s brother Mitchell Marsh is also lined up to join the unit after their first four games. Glamorgan would commence their T20 campaign on July 18 at home Somerset.
