Pakistan opener, Abid Ali started his international career with a bang as he struck century on his ODI debut against Australia. However, he couldn't make it to the final squad of World Cup squad of Pakistan. He was part of Pakistan’s initial 15-member squad for the 2019 ICC World Cup, however, he was dropped from the final squad two days before the mega event.
The 31-year-old now has forgotten about the World Cup and has set his eyes on the Sri Lanka tour. The opening batsman these days is working hard on his fitness and his batting.
“World Cup is a thing of the past now. I am fully focused on the next series against Sri Lanka. I am currently trying to improve my fitness along with my batting,” he said.
Abid is confident of giving his hundred per cent if he gets an opportunity to play the Test series against Sri Lanka. The two-match Test series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, which is part of the inaugural ICC Test Championship, is likely to be held in Lahore and Karachi.
