Former Australian fast bowler, Brett Lee has showered praise over legendary fast-bowler Wasim Akram recently. Lee, who was a legend in his own right, reminisced the incident involving him, Wasim Akram and Jacques Kallis when the trio shared a dressing room in the Indian Premier League for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Kallis was having a go at the Lee in the batting nets and Lee seemed to have no answers to Kallis’ aggressive approach but then came Wasim, who was KKR’s bowling coach at the time.
Lee revealed he was trying to get Kallis out with sheer pace, but Akram was trying to play mind games by getting the ball to swing one way a couple of times before swinging it the other way.
“He goes right. He warms up. He is wearing sandshoes, not spikes. He warms up his shoulders,” he said. “So I am going to do this, bring three or four in and take one away and nick him off. He takes three or four steps and brings it in and Jacques plays it with a smile.”
The former pacer said that Akram was spot on in his assessment and took the edge on his fourth delivery.
“The fourth ball now he goes like right, now it’s time to turn the ball around. Turned it around like that. Nick. That’s a win. Wasim ‘Bhai’ you are a legend,” Lee concluded.
