Bangladesh have become the first team to tour Sri Lanka after the horrific terrorist attacks earlier this year on Easter left as many as 258 people dead. Amidst security concerns and the state of emergency in the country, Bangladesh interim captain Tamim Iqbal admitted he was impressed with the security arrangements in Colombo.
“The security has been fantastic ... The facilities they have given us are top notch. We are feeling very comfortable. There is nothing except cricket (that) we are thinking of. The boys are enjoying the hotel and if they want to go out, it is completely safe for us,” he said.
Tamim remarked that Sri Lanka’s visit to Bangladesh despite instances of violence previously motivated the current tour as a gesture of reciprocity. Bangladesh have been provided with airport-style security with armed deployments guarding their motorcades.
