Australia coach Justin Langer has sent a warning to World Cup champions England about a tough challenge in the upcoming Ashes series scheduled to commence on August 1. Langer shed light on Australia’s impressive turnaround in international cricket from despair last year in the aftermath of the ball-tampering saga to now achieving a spot in the final four at the World Cup.
“We've got a group of players who have worked hard for the last six or seven months and have got to a World Cup semi-final, we've had some hiccups along the way but these guys have done a great job and everyone in this squad has played their role. That's where I get my confidence from,” Langer claimed.
The last time the two sides met in a Test series, Australia rolled over England for an emphatic 4-0 victory margin. However, Australia will also be wary of the fact they haven’t triumphed on English soil in a Test series since 2001.
