Sarfaraz Ahmed’s ordinary performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament highlighted the captaincy debate of Pakistan once again as many are advocating a change in the leadership framework. In this regard, names of Imad Wasim and Babar Azam are popping up as fans want selectors to prepare well for the next edition of the 50-over event.
Recent man to join the debate is the former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad who urged Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to set their priorities straight and look for a fresh face who can begin a new era. While there was a speculation about Mohammad Hafeez getting the captaincy for a short period, the iconic batsman discarded the notion as he believes that the players who enjoyed their prime must not get this job.
There is no official word yet on this matter from the governing body of Pakistan cricket as the questions continue to get raised. However, few changes are expected in the coming days as PCB is adamant to bring improvement in national team’s performance.
