After an incredible edition of the Cricket World Cup, the focus is set to shift to the purest form of the game as hosts England are ready to take down Australia in the iconic Ashes series. On the other hand, Kangaroos are eager to avenge their first-ever semi-final defeat which came against none other than their arch-rivals England.
Ahead of the historic series, Tim Paine has reflected on his team as he feels that the incoming of players like David Warner and Steve Smith has boosted Australia’s chances of success. Particularly talking about Smith, the wicket-keeper batsman added that he’s an extremely capable player who has done really well for Australia in past.
The 34-year old mentioned Smith’s Test numbers as he added that one cannot become a top player and average 60 in red-ball cricket unless he’s on some mission. Moreover, the Tasmania born added that he is expecting the former captain to come hard in a series holding immense importance. Ashes series will commence from August 1 with a game at Birmingham.
