The English cricket team won its first ever men’s cricket World Cup a couple of weeks ago after defeating New Zealand by the narrowest of margins at Lord’s. The game was decided on the basis of greater boundaries after the super over also ended in a tie.
The historic World Cup triumph is still being celebrated in England as all-rounder Liam Plunkett also shared some inside stories from the dressing room after the final. The most consistent English bowler during the last couple of years revealed that he cried a lot after going into the dressing room post final.
He said that a couple of players went through random emotional spells while Mark Wood cried his eyes out after watching a video the next morning.
“We were all feeling emotional spells randomly. I went straight back to the dressing room and bawled my eyes out. Next day Woody was watching a video and suddenly cried his eyes out. I am not sure I will ever have that feeling again,” he said.
