Former Pakistan captain and legendary fast bowler, Wasim Akram had to deal with embarrassment and humiliation at the Manchester Airport. Wasim was travelling from Manchester to Canada for his next assignment in the Global T20 Canada.
Akram took to Twitter to reveal his painful experience at the airport where he was mistreated by the authorities for carrying his insulin. The 53-year-old Akram was asked to take out his insulin from its travel cold-case and dump it into a plastic bag by the officials at the airport.
The ‘Sultan of Swing’ was first diagnosed with Type I diabetes in 1997 when he was the captain of the Pakistan team and at the peak of his career. He has been taking insulin injections multiple times a day ever since.
Later in another tweet, Wasim said he did not wish for a privileged treatment but expected the airport officials to maintain a "standard of care when dealing with all people".
