The Sri Lankan cricket team couldn’t make their World Cup journey memorable as they won only two matches and two of their important clashes were rained out. The young squad of the Islanders were led by Dimuth Karunaratne who last played an ODI in 2015 before the ICC World Cup 2019.
Dimuth Karunaratne is now focused on building a strong team for the future as their World Cup campaign was highlighted just because of their victory over the reigning champions England.
“I think if you take World Cup, we did fairly good. In patches we did really well and sometimes we didn’t do very well. We need to groom some youngsters for the next World Cup. We have plenty of time but we need to groom one by one. And those are the key areas I’m looking forward to,” Karunaratne emphasized.
