Kolpak contracts, often a controversial subject in the cricket world, could be soon removed from the County circuit after 2021 in the event of a no-deal Brexit, as informed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
There are dozens of Kolpak cricketers currently contracted to counties, with most of the high-profile players coming from South Africa including Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Duanne Olivier, Simon Harmer and Kyle Abbott.

Kolpak signings as well as those with European Union passports are eligible to feature without counting as an overseas player. However, with UK’s imminent withdrawal from the EU, this could directly affect the conditions on employment and render Kolpak contracts ineffective.
