Sri Lanka pacer Nuwan Kulasekara has announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect after representing his side in a 15-year-long career. A member of Sri Lanka’s World T20-winning squad in 2014, Kulasekara is known for his canny ability to swing the ball both ways and dart in accurate yorkers.
As the world of cricket poured in tributes for the right-arm seamer, former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif came up with a unique tweet which many deemed as distasteful on the topic of bidding farewell to Kulasekara.
Kaif said his most special Kulasekara memory was when the 37-year-old was struck for India’s World Cup-winning six by MS Dhoni in 2011 at the Wankhede Stadium. However, fans hit out at Kaif and reminded him of Sri Lanka’s World T20 winning final in 2014 against India.
