Pakistan’s former wicket-keeper batsman Rashid Latif has voiced his opposition to the proposed return of the banned duo of Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif in the national side. Rashid echoed the sentiment shared by some former players as well.
“What is the need to bring them back. We have already set the trend earlier and can’t afford more,” Rashid said, indirectly alluding to the comeback of Mohammad Amir after a 5-year spot-fixing ban.
Sharjeel’s ban will expire in August. He was forced out of international cricket after being caught being involved in match-fixing along with fellow opening batsman Khalid during the second edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Difficulties continue to haunt Sharjeel’s comeback to domestic cricket as his request for relaxation in his ban was rejected by the cricket board.
