The International Cricket Council has accredited the biomechanics lab situated at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) as a testing center for suspect bowling actions. This will now be the second such facility in Asia after Chennai.
The LUMS lab is the sixth ICC-accredited lab in the world and will be a huge boost for Pakistan cricket as the lab will help identify the deficiencies in players’ bowling actions and give them the opportunity to remodel them.
“The facility will help us identify and rectify faulty bowling actions at an early stage. In the past we didn’t have a testing centre and a number of Pakistan bowlers were called both at the domestic and international level and then had to undergo remodelling of their action,” PCB Managing Director Wasim Khan said on the occasion.
