Ireland have sprung a huge surprise on England over the past couple of days as they have been able to corner the English side which became the World Champions of ODI cricket two weeks ago.
Irish pacer Boyd Rankin was among the chief destroyers as he took 2 wickets in both innings on the first 2 days of the match at Lord’s. It was especially a unique feat for Rankin as he has now become one of the few players who have played against and for a side in Test cricket.
Rankin played 1 Test match and a couple of limited over games for England in 2014, but he moved back to Ireland to focus his career at home. The tall right-armer has become only the second player to have played Test cricket for and against England after former Indian skipper Indian captain Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi in 1946.
