‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle has been inducted into the West Indies squad prepared to take on India in the three one-day internationals soon. This development comes after Gayle had earlier reversed his decision to retire from international cricket as promised.
Gayle had stated in March he would be bowing out of the game by the end of the World Cup but changed his mind regarding retirement midway through the tournament. In what is expected to be Gayle’s farewell series, he requires just 12 runs to overtake Brian Lara as West Indies’ leading run-getter in ODI cricket.
“Chris is a very valuable player and he brings a lot of experience, a lot of knowledge, he lends a lot to any dressing room and it is great to have him in the squad,” interim coach Floyd Reifer declared in a statement released by Cricket West Indies.
