The Bangladesh cricket team has suffered a major defeat in the opening ODI of the away series against Sri Lanka after Lasith Malinga lead the hosts to victory with his pace variations and nagging lengths during the final game of his career.
Stand-in captain for the tour, Tamim Iqbal feels grateful for the opportunity to lead his national side for a while. He believes that the new challenge of captaincy would not get to his head as his experience of over 12 years has toughened him up for such things.
“I have been playing for the national team for over 12 years now, and as the board has given me the responsibility in their absence, I should take that. I am not thinking like 'I am making a debut in captaincy,” he said.
