The burgeoning popularity of T20 leagues has ensured that the reach of cricket is not restricted to a select number of countries and expands beyond borders. In line with this theory, another T10 competition is set to greet the world of cricket as the Qatar Cricket Association has announced the Qatar Premier T10 Cricket League (QPL) to be held in the Gulf state this year.
The latest format to grace the horizon of cricket, the T10 League in Sharjah has already been a major success and has managed to attract much fanfare. QPL is thus expected to generate a similar level of excitement, especially with the fact that legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi has been signed onto the platform as the brand ambassador of the league.
Anticipating good things with this new partnership, Afridi took to Twitter to congratulate the Qatari authorities for taking baby steps to launch the upcoming tournament. He hoped this initiative would pave the way for more tourism in the country as well.
