As if the significance of Ashes wasn’t enough, the element of ICC World Test championship is further spicing up the contests. For claiming glory in the forthcoming mouth-watering series which gets underway from August 1 at Edgbaston, Australia is preparing really hard and star batsman Usman Khawaja is no exception.
Ahead of the Ashes series, Usman has received a valuable advice from the former Australian captain and legend Ricky Ponting. The 44-year-old added that Usman needs to stay aggressive to get success against England as his technique starts getting exposed when he adopts the defensive track. Nevertheless, Ponting believes that the Islamabad born carries immense ability which he should use to good effect.
“I think when he’s scoring quite freely, he’s a much better player and that’s going to be the challenge for him again. If he does that, I’m sure he’ll play well. I’ve not got enough good things to say about Usman as a player. I think he’s very classy,” Ponting said while reflecting on Australia’s top-order batsman.
