Reports of Pakistani fast-bowler Mohammad Amir seeking United Kingdom citizenship after Test cricket retirement created havoc in Pakistan. These rumours had started spreading negativity about Amir and it was said that once he gets his British citizenship, he would choose to play for England.
However, Amir’s wife Narjis Khan, who is a British citizen, has come forward to defend her husband. She denied all the rumours, saying that Amir will represent Pakistan in limited-overs cricket. She further stated their daughter would also represent Pakistan if she grows up to be a cricketer.
She said that Amir has retired from Tests only and the intention behind it was to give more time to one-day and T20 formats. The 27-year-old had a stellar World Cup as he emerged as Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker with 17 scalps to his name.
