India’s batting prodigy, Prithvi Shaw was slapped with an eight-month ban from all forms of competitive cricket for failing a dope test. However, his childhood coach, Santosh Pingutkar believes Shaw is a “fighter” and will come out of his eight-month doping suspension stronger.
Pingutkar is the one who made Shaw understand the basics of cricket in his early days and made him the star he is today.
The talented batsman led India to its U-19 World Cup victory in New Zealand and also made a hundred on Test debut against West Indies.
The 19-year-old has admitted that the eight-month doping ban has “shaken him” but he also vows to bounce back with full strength.
Shaw’s period of suspension, starting from March 16 and ending on November 15, effectively rules him out of the home Tests against South Africa in October as well as the first Test against Bangladesh which begins on November 14.
