Former Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar recently lashed out at the selection committee for not reviewing Virat Kohli’s captaincy after India’s semifinal exit from the recent ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
Chief selector, MSK Prasad has regarded Gavaskar’s comments as unfortunate as he said that such criticism from former cricketers only helps the selection committee in getting better and stronger.
Furthermore, he has also made it clear that the selection committee does not get bullied by Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri for making decisions about the team.
“It’s a common misconception that players who have played more cricket have more knowledge or more power and can bully anybody, but it is not the fact. If that is the case then the entire coaching unit, selection committee, and all other relevant fields should be filled with only those people who have had vast international careers as players. I don’t think this is right,” he said.
