Since the conclusion of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament, Pakistan’s captaincy framework has become a red hot topic. Wicket-keeper batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed stepped into the mega-event as Pakistan’s leader amid a lot of reservations and situation exacerbated when he wasn’t able to record an impressive campaign.
All this allowed the voices against him to raise momentum. Nevertheless, there are still few people who propose the 32-year old cricketer as Pakistan’s best captaincy option. Former Pakistan skipper and a legend of the game Javed Miandad belongs to the second group as he recently joined this debate.
The Karachi born opined that the testing times of World Cup made Sarfaraz learn a lot about captaincy which will allow him to do well in upcoming fixtures. Moreover, Javed argued that Pakistan doesn’t have better replacements and hence they should continue to have Sarfaraz lead the national team.
“Pakistan isn’t blessed with a lot of captaincy options. I believe Sarfaraz has learnt a lot as a skipper. Now when he is fully trained to lead the national side for important future assignments, it will be an unwise move to remove him,” said by Javed Miandad.
