The International Cricket Council (ICC) has recently launched the first ever Test Championship in order to regain the interest of fans in the premier format of the game by making it interesting.
Former Australian captain Michael Clarke has welcomed the introduction of the Test Championship as he feels that it would help in improving Test cricket by serving the same purpose as the World Cup does in ODI cricket i.e., determine the best side in world cricket.
“I think it's great for Test cricket. The top two teams playing in something like the World Cup final at Lord's in 12 months’ time. It's a little bit like the World Cup in the way that no matter where you are ranked in the ICC standings, the team that wins the World Cup is I think seen as the best team in the world. With Test cricket it will be the same, whoever wins the championship is the best team in the world,” said Clarke.
