Bangladesh’s ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has advocated better workload management for his country’s players after they were recently whitewashed in a three-match series in Sri Lanka. Shakib reckons the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) needs to adopt clear rotation policies to give the senior players enough rest and provide the youngsters with opportunities.
“When these breaks are in place, you can give more opportunity to players and you will have players in the pipeline as well. So we have to plan by looking at the bigger picture. I am just talking about part of it, but we will definitely discuss this in more details,” Shakib claimed.
He advised the BCB to look towards India as an example of a cricketing nation which manages its players increasingly well and they remain fit throughout most of the cricket season. He believes the top Bangladesh players can be rested for one of the formats in order to produce better results in the long-run.
