Nathan Lyon has been Australia’s premier spinner in Test cricket, boasting a prolific record in the longest format. His loopy, orthodox off-spin has helped him attain a large number of wickets in varying conditions around the globe.
Lyon is now gearing up to deliver his magic in the Ashes and prove to be instrumental in challenging the England batsmen. Discussing his plans to attack the English batting lineup, the 31-year-old has said he observed Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s bowling in the County Championship in order to prepare for the Ashes.
“I have watched a lot of footage of Ravi Ashwin actually, bowling over here last year and in the tours that he has been here, how effective he has been. In my eyes he is one of the offies going around. I can definitely learn from watching how he goes about it here in England,” Lyon said.
