Australian top-order batsman Steve Smith has announced his return to international cricket in style after scoring a match-turning 144 against England on day 1 of the first Ashes Test in Birmingham.
The right-hander has revealed that he was unsure about his future in cricket after what happened last year in Cape Town as he thought that he would never play for Australia again due to the severity of the issue.
However, he was quite determined to contribute to the performance of the team once he returned which eventually helped him in playing one of the best knocks of his life according to him. Smith revealed that he was quite emotional on reaching his hundred especially after seeing the reactions of his teammates and the Aussie fans.
"I think it has got to be one of my best hundreds, definitely - first Ashes Test match, the ball was doing a fair bit out in the morning, so I had to work really hard,” he said.
