England’s opening batsman, Rory Burns puts England in the driving position in the opening Test match of the Ashes 2019 with his maiden century. His great temperament and technique got him his first ever Test century.
Rory remained 125 not out at the end of 2nd Day’s play. Rory Burns now has the highest score by a (specialist) England opener (not by Alastair Cook) in a home Test since Alex Hales' 94 against Sri Lanka at Lord's in 2016.
Burns (121 runs) is also the highest individual score by an Englishmen in a single day of a Test match since 2017. This innings will provide the youngster with a lot of confidence and might as well sort England’s top-order dilemma in Test arena.
