CSA sack head coach Ottis Gibson

Ottis Gibson will not serve as the head coach of South Africa for their forthcoming tour of Indian that starts in September as Gibson has been released from his role as the Proteas head coach. The West Indian Gibson will not have his contract renewed after a disappointing World Cup in England, where South Africa won only three of their nine matches and were never in the hunt for the semi-finals.

Cricket South Africa is undergoing a massive overhaul in their coaching structure and in that effort, Gibson's backroom staff of Malibongwe Maketa (assistant coach), Dale Benkenstein (batting coach), Justin Ontong (fielding coach) and Claude Henderson (spin bowling coach) have all been sacked.

The uncertainty extends as far as the skipper Faf du Plessis, with CSA's statement on Sunday adding that Van Zyl and Moroe would appoint a captain for the tour.
