The former Australian skipper Steve Smith has pulled victory from the jaws of England after the home side remained dominant through the first 3 days of the Test match at Edgbaston. After making a match-turning hundred in the first innings, Smith maintained his authority with the bat by scoring another 100 in the second innings.
The right-hander seemed quite comfortable at the crease as he maneuvered the ball through the gaps and ended up with a score of 142 in the second innings, scoring a total of 288 runs in the match.
The world’s number 4 Test batsman showed great resilience throughout his stay at the wicket as he did not let the English bowlers and crowd get the better of him.
Smith’s consecutive centuries left the cricket world in awe as everyone seemed impressed with the right-hander’s skills in the longer format.
