After exiting the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament without even playing the semi-finals of the mega-event, future of Pakistan’s head coach Mickey Arthur remains a mystery to all. There has been a lot of speculations in this regard, but an official word from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to come out as the Johannesburg born recently had a meeting with PCB authorities.
However, a media report has claimed that England Cricket Board (ECB) is very much interested in hiring Mickey’s services if he steps down from Pakistan’s coaching. It is important to note that current coach Trevor Bayliss would be taking an exit as England’s coach after the conclusion of the ongoing Ashes series.
The 51-year old has also expressed his willingness to coach England if the opportunity arises. While South Africa’s ex-coach Ottis Gibson and former Indian coach Gary Kirsten are in the running, one cannot rule out the possibility of having England’s current assistant coaches Paul Collingwood, Chris Silverwood and Graham Thorpe as the potential successors.
