Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Rangpur Riders have threatened to end their tenure in the country’s premier T20 tournament over an issue involving Shakib Al Hasan. The problem has arisen regarding Shakib’s proposed shift from Dhaka Dynamites to Rangpur.
It has come to the fore that the Dynamites have been unable to accept the fact that Shakib joined the Riders. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) refused the swap between the franchises leading to Rangpur Riders warning a walkout from the league.
“We cannot play in this manner. It’s not important whether we will continue with BPL or not but it’s just not on when we spent 10 to 15 crores BDT every year and they [BPL governing council] keep coming up with different ideas every year,” the Rangpur chief executive has said.
