Faf du Plessis claims South Africa’s Cricketer of the Year award

South Africa’s skipper Faf du Plessis’ consistent and meaningful performances have helped him to bag the ‘South African Cricketer of the Year’ award at the Cricket South Africa (CSA) awards functions which took place in Pretoria. In addition to this, the 35-year old fetched the ODI Cricketer of the Year and SA Players’ Player of the Year award.

Doing so, the prolific batsman joined an elite list by becoming only the 11th player to win the South African Cricketer of the Year’ award. Few other prominent names to have won this honor are Shaun Pollock, Dale Steyn, Jacques Kallis, Makhaya Ntini, Graeme Smith and AB de Villiers. With this, du Plessis lead the award winning list.

Being awarded with such honors elated the Pretoria born cricketer as he moved to extend his gratitude to the relevant authorities. Du Plessis said that he was really pumped up to see his name among the greats of South Africa and vowed to deliver strongly for his country in the forthcoming fixtures.
