Following last era’s batting heroes, the modern day cricket is also producing some great batters of the game. Steve Smith of Australia, Joe Root of England, Virat Kohli of India and Kane Williamson of New Zealand currently form the ‘Fantastic Four’ of the cricketing world.
However, Pakistan’s talented leg-spinner Usama Mir has recently swelled this list as he added the name of his countryman and top order batsman Babar Azam. The 23-year old who has played with Babar Azam for Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) believes that the aforementioned five cricketers are currently the top batters of the game and feels privileged to be in an era of these players.
While the ‘Fantastic Four’ is a widely accepted concept, Babar Azam will have to do a lot more to be counted among the modern day greats. Nevertheless, it is hard to ignore the prowess of the Lahore born cricketer who continuous to impress people in white-ball formats. Even in the red-ball cricket, Babar has recovered well after experiencing a decline. The upcoming fixtures and particularly the Test championship will allow him to possess a 50-plus average in all the three forms of the game.
