West Indies star all-rounder Kieron Pollard has been slapped with a fine of 20 percent of his match fee and given one demerit point for refusing to comply with the umpire’s instructions during the second T20 international against India in Florida.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has found Pollard’s conduct to be in violation of Article 2.4 of the Level One of the ICC Code of Conduct. However, Pollard denied the offence and his case was decided after a formal hearing held by match referee Jeff Crowe.
The incident occurred after Pollard called a substitute onto the field despite having been repeatedly told by the umpires that a request must be made first and he had to wait until the end of the over. He did not pay heed to the umpire’s instructions and as a result suffered the consequences.
