The Australian cricket team has become the first team to register points in the ICC Test Championship after defeating England in the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston, thereby, gaining 24 points.
Top-order batsman Steve Smith received the man of the match award in his first Test match after return as he helped the Aussies in staying dominant throughout the game with his twin tons.
Smith has said that he never doubted himself even while he was away from the game as he always believed in his abilities on the field while he also cherished the opportunity to play for Australia once again.
“I’ve never doubted my ability. But, it’s kind of a dream comeback in a way. To be able to score two hundreds in a match, in the first Ashes match, it’s something I have never done in any form of cricket before in my life. It’s incredibly special. It feels like Christmas morning every morning getting to come and do this," he said.
