Former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar is said to be one of the most lethal bowlers in the history of the game as he often inflicted injuries onto the batsmen with his well-directed deliveries at various lengths.

In a recent interview, Akhtar recalled one of his famous bouncers to West Indian batting legend Brian Lara who left the field in excruciating pain after getting hit on the side of his head during the semi final of ICC Champions Trophy 2004 at Southampton.

“I bowled Lara a bouncer that hit him on his neck, he was badly hurt and fell unconscious before being rushed to the hospital. Thank God he didn’t die, because if the ball had hit him just inches towards the head, his skull bone would have been broken and thank God it didn’t happen,” said Akhtar.
