Despite recent series victories and a decent campaign in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament, Sri Lanka didn’t really blossom the way they were meant to under the mentorship of Chandika Hathurusingha.
This saw the 50-year old getting served with an ultimatum by Sri Lanka’s sports minister Harin Fernando to quit before the commencement of the home series against New Zealand. Just before the start of the Kiwis’ tour to Sri Lanka which comprises of two Tests and three T20Is, the authorities have found success in replacing the Colombo born with Jerome Jayaratne whose appointment has been made on an interim basis.
Having officiated in the capacity of coach as well as a manger in past, the 53-year old is confident about producing strong results for the Islanders. In addition to this, two selectors Brendon Kuruppa and Hemantha Wickramaratne have been removed. Harin added that he’s adamant to bring all the needed changes to restore the pride of Sri Lankan Cricket.
