The preparations for the next edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have already started as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is adamant to hold the entire league in Pakistan. In this regard, a meeting took place between PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani and the owners of the six franchises.
As per reports, the governing body of PSL is looking to modify the financial model of the tournament. Currently, the player budget amounts to $1.4 million which is set to be reduced. For this to happen, there is a suggestion of adopting the auction system by scrapping the drafting mechanism.
The proposal is to have an auction without categories where franchises can hire services of different players as per their need and financial ability. In addition to this, personalities like Giles Clarke, Haroon Lorgat and Darren Sammy are likely to be made ambassadors of the league to ease up the process of approaching foreign stars and convincing them to play in Pakistan. However, PCB is yet to break silence on this matter as the board is striving hard to have Pakistan host the complete fifth edition of the 20-over event.
