While Australia’s thumping victory against arch-rivals England in the first Ashes Test came two days ago, the cricketing world is still in awe of top order batsman Steve Smith. Recording a unique feat of scoring twin centuries in a Test, the proficient cricketer rescued Australia and went on to win the player of the match award.
Not only that, Smith has received words of praise from Australia’s coach and former cricketer Justin Langer. The 48-year old moved to compare the abilities of Steve Smith with India’s run machine Virat Kohli. Langer had no hesitation in admitting Virat Kohli being the best player of the world, but he added that Steve Smith with his smashing form in red-ball cricket seems to be on another level.
Langer believes that to possess an average of almost 63 after playing 119 innings just speaks loudly about the talent and ability Smith carries. Moreover, the Perth born also lauded Smith’s mental strength as he came back from suspension and registered a memorable performance to help Australia take 1-0 lead in the five-game series.
