Former wicket-keeper batsman, Rashid Latif has emerged as the hot favourite for the vacant chief selector post for Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), after Inzamam-ul-Haq decided against requesting for a renewal of his contract. Pakistan’s coaching staff is undergoing a massive overhaul after an unsatisfactory performance by the ‘Green Shirts’ in the World Cup.
According to the reports, Latif is currently contracted with the Pakistan Television (PTV) and recently extended his contract for three more years. However, he is likely to accept the chief selector job, if offered by the board.
Amidst these speculations, Latif has announced to step down as President of the Pakistan Disabled Cricket Association (PDCA), adding fuel to the growing rumours. Moreover, it is reported that Shoaib Akhtar is also a contender, although neither of the two have been formally approached by the board yet.
